Aesthetic Business Start-Up Course Montreal & Laval

Sourcing. Systems. Marketing. Money. A schedule that fills itself.

You already know how to treat a client. This aesthetic business start-up course teaches the part no technical program covers: sourcing equipment, a booking system that rebooks people, getting found online and keeping a schedule full. Legal, registrations, insurance and CNESST take one module — we guide you through the broker application — and the other five build the business. Six modules, 48 hours, theory online at your own pace and a one-to-one workshop with the instructor in Montreal or Laval for each — the step after your 200h Clinical Aesthetician Certificate, with a certificate recognized by employers and suppliers in Quebec and Canada.

In short

IPLLAB’s aesthetic business start-up course is 6 modules, 48 hours, $1,500 before taxes — theory online at your own pace, one-to-one workshop with the instructor per module in Montréal or Laval. Module 1 handles the legal side in one pass — legal form, registrations, GST/QST, premises, insurance (we guide you with brokers), CNESST and liability; Québec has no professional order or practice permit for estheticians, so that fits in a single module. Modules 2 to 6 fill the schedule: suppliers and equipment sourcing, booking, deposits, consent and rebooking, website health, local SEO and AI visibility, Google Ads and Meta ads, then money, KPIs and scaling. Every module ends in a real document for your own business. It is the step after the 200h Clinical Aesthetician Certificate Program, with a certificate recognized by employers and suppliers in Quebec and Canada. Social media management is a separately billed service. No business or marketing background needed.

Our Program

A Marketing-Led Business Course for Estheticians Going Independent

Six modules. Forty-eight hours. One module on paperwork, five on getting and keeping clients.

We have run two IPLLAB medispas in Montréal and Laval since 2016 — the same market you are about to enter, the same suppliers, the same searches, the same advertising rules. This course is what that experience left us with: the questions to ask a supplier before you sign, a booking flow that holds a schedule together, pages that earn local visibility, campaigns built to the cosmetic-services rules, and the numbers to judge it all by. We keep the material current as platforms and prices change. Legal takes one module; the other five build the business. Every module ends in a workshop, and every workshop ends in a document you keep.

English & French instruction • One-to-one with the instructor · theory online • Recognized in QC & Canada • The step after the 200h Certificate Program

  • 2 Months / 64h · Required

    General Aesthetic Course

The entry point: skincare fundamentals, sanitation, hygiene, consultation, skin analysis and core aesthetic treatments. Built for students with no prior background. Required — course 1 of the 2-course minimum for professional insurance, and of the 200h Clinical Aesthetician Certificate Program.

  • 1 Month / 48h · Required · Insurance-ready

    Laser Hair Removal Course

Laser theory, Fitzpatrick skin typing, contraindications, treatment settings, safety procedures and one-to-one practical application on clinic lasers. Required — together with the General Aesthetic Course, the minimum to apply for professional insurance (other factors count too, such as your premises and lease). Course 2 of the 200h Certificate Program.

  • 2 Months / 56h · Recommended

    Advanced Skin Rejuvenation

Skin renewal protocols, treatment planning, client assessment, contraindications and aftercare. Not required, but strongly recommended — the must-have for roughly 80% of medico-aesthetic procedures and positions. Counts toward the 200h Certificate Program.

  • 4 courses / 200h · 6–9 months · Goal

    200h Clinical Aesthetician Certificate Program

Add one more course of your choice — laser tattoo removal or advanced facials, for example — and you reach the 200h goal. The top professional profile you leave with: maximum employer interest, the best pay rate and payroll options. Not mandatory for employment or insurance, but the recommended path to maximum expertise.

  • 6 Modules / 48h · After the 200h

Aesthetic Business Start-Up Course — you are here

For estheticians opening a studio or renting a room, or filling an under-booked schedule. Module 1 covers legal form, registrations, GST/QST, premises, insurance (with broker guidance) and CNESST; five more cover sourcing, booking systems, website and SEO, Google and Meta ads, and first-year finances. A real deliverable in every module, then start-up support from the IPLLAB team.

Right Fit

Is This the Right Course for You?

Five straight answers before you enrol. The six modules and the document each one produces are listed below.

My studio is already open, but the schedule is not full
Then modules 3, 4 and 5 are the reason to enrol. An under-filled schedule is usually a booking and visibility problem rather than a treatment problem: no deposits so no-shows go unpunished, no automated rebooking, a website nobody finds, and advertising with no cost-per-lead measurement behind it. You will leave with a live client journey, a prioritized website and search fix list, and a running Google and Meta campaign.
Do you run my social media for me?
No — and it is worth being clear about that. The course teaches social media management and automation as a discipline: the content system, the scheduling, the platform rules for cosmetic services. Having the IPLLAB team run it for you afterwards is a separately billed service, not part of tuition.
I have no business or marketing background at all
That is the assumption the course is built on. Nothing assumes you have run ads, read a cash-flow statement or vetted a distributor before. Quizzes and short essays check understanding as you go, and the workshops are done with the instructor rather than left as homework. The only prerequisite is an esthetic certification, held or in progress.
Is the content specific to Québec?
Yes, deliberately. Registraire des entreprises, Revenu Québec, GST/QST, CNESST, the Office de la protection du consommateur for packages, and Law 25 for client records — with notes on where the rules differ elsewhere in Canada. Québec has no professional order or practice permit for estheticians, which is precisely why the legal module is short and the rest of the course is long.
Does this course teach treatments or techniques?
No. For the treatments themselves, IPLLAB’s technical courses cover laser hair removal, microneedling, skin rejuvenation, facials and tattoo removal — see all esthetician courses in Montreal & Laval. Graduates of any of them are exactly who this program was designed for.

Course Modules

One module of paperwork, five of building the business — each one ending in a document you keep.

Why IPLLAB

Taught by People Who Book, Market and Pay for Two Clinics

Three reasons estheticians choose this program. The biggest one: the suppliers, the booking system and the ads being taught are the ones running two working medispas in Montreal and Laval.

Marketing-Led, Not Legal-Led — One module on paperwork, five on filling the schedule.

Québec has no professional order or practice permit for estheticians. The registration work is real, but it is short.

  • Supplier vetting, Health Canada device licensing, warranties and lease-versus-buy before you spend on equipment
  • Booking with deposits, digital consent, automated reminders and rebooking — the system that protects your revenue
  • Website health, local SEO, Google Business Profile, AI visibility, Google Ads and Meta ads, measured on cost per lead

Documents, Not Just Theory — Six workshops, six deliverables you keep.

Each one reviewed by the instructor before you move to the next module.

  • Launch compliance checklist, equipment plan and supplier shortlist, live client journey
  • Website and search audit with a fix list, first Google and Meta campaign with a 90-day content calendar
  • First-year plan with a cash-flow forecast, in the format a lender expects

Support That Continues — Free consultation before, instructor review during, start-up support after.

The IPLLAB team stays available after the last module while you register, set up and launch.

  • Pre-enrolment consultation to confirm the course fits your plan and your timing
  • Instructor review of every workshop deliverable, one-to-one, during the course
  • Follow-up start-up support once you are putting the plan into action — social media management and automation available separately

Your Next Chapter

From Practitioner to Business Owner

Your skills. Your name on the door. Your calendar full.

Independent practice is where many estheticians earn the most and enjoy the work most — and where the least training exists. At IPLLAB, the business side of esthetics is taught by the people who handle it every week for two working medispas: the distributors, the booking system, the consent forms, the Google Business Profile and the ad accounts. This aesthetic business start-up course hands you that experience in a structure you can follow, so opening an esthetics studio in Montreal, Laval or anywhere in Québec starts from a plan instead of a guess.

Common Questions

Aesthetic Business Start-Up Course — FAQ

Honest answers to what estheticians ask before enrolling.

48 hours across six 8-hour modules. Each module blends structured lessons, knowledge-check quizzes and a short essay assessment with a practical workshop, and the schedule is built so working estheticians can complete it without stopping work.

$1,500 before taxes. That covers all six modules, the assessments, the instructor review of your six workshop documents and business start-up support from the team afterwards. Social media management and automation is billed separately if you want us to run it for you. Your contract is emailed after purchase and you can cancel under our Terms.

No — that is one module out of six. Québec has no professional order and no practice permit for estheticians, so the legal form, the registrations with the Registraire des entreprises and Revenu Québec, GST/QST, premises, insurance and CNESST fit into a single pass — and we guide you through the professional insurance application with brokers. The remaining five modules are sourcing and suppliers, booking and client systems, website health with SEO and AI visibility, paid advertising and social media, and money.

No. The course assumes only that you hold, or are completing, an esthetic certification. Nothing expects you to have run an ad account or read a cash-flow statement before. We confirm the fit during a short, free pre-enrolment consultation.

Yes, and it is one of the three audiences the course is built for. An under-filled schedule usually traces back to booking, visibility or advertising rather than treatment quality. Modules 3 to 5 rebuild the client journey with deposits and automated rebooking, audit your website and local search presence, and put a measured Google and Meta campaign in place.

Six reviewed documents for your own practice: a launch compliance checklist, an equipment plan with a supplier shortlist, a live booking-to-rebooking client journey with automations, a website and search audit with a fix list, a first Google and Meta campaign with a 90-day content calendar, and a first-year plan with a cash-flow forecast. Plus a certificate of completion.

The course teaches social media management and automation — the content system, scheduling, and the platform rules that apply to cosmetic services — and you leave with a 90-day content calendar you built yourself. Having the IPLLAB team run your social media afterwards is a separately billed service, not part of tuition.

Yes. Students who complete the lessons, quizzes and essay assessments receive an IPLLAB certificate documenting the modules and workshops finished — recognized by employers and suppliers across Quebec and Canada. It is not a government licence — Québec issues none for esthetics — and it does not replace your technical esthetic certification or count toward the 200h Clinical Aesthetician Certificate Program; it is the step after it.

Yes. An esthetic certification held or in progress is the only prerequisite. Taking the business course alongside a technical program means your registrations, your suppliers and your booking system are ready the week you qualify rather than months later.

During the course, instructor review of every workshop deliverable. After completion, follow-up support from the IPLLAB team as you register, set up your space and launch — questions about a supplier quote, a lease clause, a package contract or an ad account. It is support, not a done-for-you service: you do the work, we help you get it right.

Two Locations

Aesthetic Business Training — Montreal & Laval Campuses

IPLLAB runs two campuses — 3889 St-Denis Street, Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal and 4220 St-Martin Boulevard West, Laval — so the aesthetic business start-up course is accessible across the Greater Montreal area. Both are working medispas, which means the suppliers, booking system, consent forms and ad accounts the course covers are the ones the team runs for these two addresses. If you are searching for an esthetician business course near you, help opening an esthetics studio, or a way to fill an under-booked schedule, and you want a consultation with a working esthetician before committing, see the full course outline, browse every esthetician course, or book a personalized consultation. Both campuses run the identical six-module curriculum, in Montreal and Laval.
